Adaptive Reuse Housing in the Heart of Santa Ana

September, 2020

As we slowly approach cooler weather, we are also nearing completion on the Santa Ana Arts Collective project with Meta Housing. This project began in 2016, and is a shining example of Adaptive Reuse. What was once a rundown office building is now a modern, clean living space for Santa Ana residents.

Here’s a brief synopsis of the project from Meta’s site:

“The Santa Ana Arts Collective (SAAC) is Meta Housing’s first working artist community in Orange County … Meta Housing will transform an underutilized, five-story, mid-century, high vacancy commercial building into 43 high quality affordable apartment units for working artists and their families.”

This month KKG conducted final punch walks with property management, to make sure everything is up to snuff. As the final touches are made, this project is nearing completion. Almost all of the 43 units are now occupied, and this community is well on its way to being a Santa Ana landmark.

KKG has been involved from start to finish, coordinating between design, construction, and ownership teams to ensure smooth, timely, and cost effective project delivery. Through our estimating and accounting divisions, we also kept change order costs down by 55%.

As this project wraps up, we look back on the past few years and are happy to have joined forces with the other project teams to deliver a great affordable living space to the people of Santa Ana.
